# Backups and recovery: plan the return to work

We help plan information backups across servers, NAS and data-centre environments. The goal is not just copying data: it is defining what you need to recover and under which conditions.

## The problem this addresses

A copied file does not prove that an application can be restored. The strategy must consider data, required configuration and how long the business can wait.

## What we can assess with you

### What to protect

Identify priority information and systems to define what is included and what is excluded.

### Where to keep it

Servers, NAS and data-centre storage are catalogue options. Location and capacity are selected for the project.

### How to recover

Agree frequency, retention and restoration reviews. Recovery depends on valid, available copies.

## How we approach the work

1. ### Prioritise information

Identify critical data, owners and system dependencies.
2. ### Define the policy

Agree frequency, retention, storage and follow-up responsibilities.
3. ### Review recovery

Define how to request a restoration and which validation steps the service covers.

## Scope before you commit

Tell us data volumes, systems, daily changes and retention needs. Restorations, tests, extra capacity and monitoring must be expressly included or excluded.

## Frequently asked questions

Can you guarantee recovery of any data?

No. Recovery depends on a valid copy and the contracted scope. No strategy should be presented as infallible.

What are RPO and RTO?

RPO describes the amount of data loss acceptable in time; RTO is the target time to restore service. These objectives need assessment and agreement, not universal figures.

Is redundancy the same as a backup?

No. Redundancy supports availability; a backup retains a copy for recovery under specified conditions.
